Obituary of Catherine Elizabeth Nagle

Catherine Elizabeth Nagle of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully at her home on January 19, 2021. She was 98 years old. Catherine was born on January 16, 1923 to Charles Edward and Lillian Leona (Wertz) Rudy in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She married her “sweetheart” and love of her life, Lambert Nagle and they enjoyed 55 years of love and laughter together. Catherine was a homemaker and stay-at-home mother and nothing made her happier than caring for her family and her home. She was intensely attentive to cleanliness and took great pride in keeping a meticulous home. For Catherine, cleanliness was godliness. Her attention to detail was also evident in the way she dressed each day, coordinating her jewelry and lipstick with her outfits. Catherine was extremely creative and skilled with arts and crafts and made many exquisite and now, cherished Fabergé eggs, with a keen eye and steady hand that continue to bring joy to her family and will pass through the generations. Catherine not only also mastered needlepoint and patiently created lovely pieces, one stitch at a time, but she was also a talented seamstress and made many types of clothing for her family through the years. She also lovingly furnished her home with curtains and handmade loom rugs. Aside from arts and crafts, Catherine was a dedicated card player and enjoyed playing in card groups and socializing with friends. To unwind at the end of the day, she and her husband often took relaxing, afternoon car rides and it would not be unusual to find them stopping for ice cream on the way home! Catherine was predeceased by her devoted husband, Lambert in 2002; dear parents, Charles and Lillian; treasured grandson, Alexander V. Messier III; and loving siblings, Evelyn (Toots) Ransom, Charles (Jack) Rudy, Jean Herman, Robert Rudy and Bernice Shade. She is survived by her beloved children, Jan (Don Ahern) Kennedy of Cedaredge, CO, Joyce Megan of Port Charlotte, FL and Joseph Nagle of Beltsville, MD; Jan’s children, Michelle Boelter (CO) and James Kennedy (FL); Joseph’s daughter, Sarah Zhang (MO); grandson, Patrick Nagle (MD); great granddaughter, Olivia Zhang (MO); and sister, Barbara Ann Rudy of Pembrook, PA.
