Obituary of Edward Lieto

Edward Lieto, of Mount Kisco and Windham, NY, and most recently, Punta Gorda, Fl, passed away on October 14, ending a long and storied life of a warm and colorful man who charmed all who met him with stories of his younger days. Born in 1934 in Mount Kisco, Lieto served in the US Army in Japan after graduation. Upon his return, he developed a love of fashion and clothing design. He later opened his retail shop on Main St. in Mount Kisco, serving both local clientele and celebrities who lived in nearby Bedford. He met his future wife, Jane (Zambelli), in Mount Kisco, with both of them sharing interest in clothing and skiing. Lieto eventually sold his business and moved upstate to Windham Mountain, where he built a house close to the mountain. Jane predeceased Ed by six years in 2014. He lived out the rest of his life in Florida, entertaining guests with his tales of days gone by. This includes the wild times he had with the late Garry Marshall, the legendary producer/director of motion pictures and TV series, who was his bunkmate in the army. He often said he had only a few months to live, but the months turned into years and he was still around. Lieto is survived by many friends and family members.
