Obituary of Jean Edna Ross
Our beloved mother Jean Edna Ross, 98 years born on April 26, 1922 went to be with her loving husband of 40 years on May 14, 2020. She passed peacefully at home in Punta Gorda, FL surrounded by family who loved her dearly. She was born in Shamokin, Pa to G. Heber Groff and Florence Snyder Groff moving to Collingswood, NJ and living there until her marriage to our amazing father Urban Frank Ross, Sr on February 28th, 1942. Her first child, Urban Frank Ross, Jr was born prior to her husband deploying with the USMC during WWII. Upon his return after the war their 2nd child was born, Donna Jean Ross. They moved their family and built their dream home in Blackwood, NJ and lived there all her life until recently moving to Florida. She worked as an executive secretary for Curtis Publishing Company in Phila., Pa. She continued working well into her late seventies until her company moved from the area. Her loves were her many animals over the years. She and her husband raised St. Bernards and showed them around the country finishing 3 champions. Those were such proud accomplishments for them both. After losing her beloved husband in 1982 she always was surrounded by dogs, cats, ducks you name it. She would see an injured bird and nurse it back to health. She once again rekindled her love of dancing and went on to ballroom dance at the Oasis Ballroom in Mullica Hill, NJ for many years. She loved the music of Glenn Miller and Frank Sinatra. Her circle of friends were amazing as their common interest was dancing every weekend. She loved her family deeply and although our hearts are broken, memories of her and every moment we were together will last forever. She was predeceased by Urban Frank Ross Sr (husband), G. Heber Groff and Florence Snyder Groff (parents), Charles Groff (brother) and Sherri Ross (granddaughter), who gave her the loving nickname of “Mimi”, the title that all of her grandchildren knew her by. Survivors include her children, Donna Jean (Ross) Stankiewicz (Stephen) of Punta Gorda, FL and Urban Frank Ross Jr (Carol) of Medford, NJ; grandchildren, Jeffrey Ross (Diann) of Williamstown, NJ, Christina Marie (Karan) Harrop of Blackwood, NJ, and Kimberly Ross of Berlin, NJ; great grandchildren, Tiffany Ross, Nicolette Ross, Lynn Silk and Ben Ross; and great great grandchildren, Kaylin, Sophia and Ayra.
