I enjoyed watching the video! When I picture Rick, I'll always remember that wry smile of his!!! Speaking of smiles, one picture of him and his carpet cleaning tools, made me smile, and it reminded me that one Saturday (years ago) he invited me (and I went along) to help him clean someone's carpets...haha! Great times!!!

Rick, you were a great friend and always will be . You stood up and behind me when others walked away. You were always an example to follow as a husband and head of household. Your children adore you and respect you! What a legacy you leave for all of us. I will see you again.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing him. I know Robin through my daughter Rochelle! I know his wonderful Dad and Mom as my husband Irwin! They are a stellar family! Good caring human beings! Helping others is their passion! I have the conviction Richard was the same! Please accept my proud sympathies! I love you all!

Hi Honey! The sun came up this morning - I’m not sure why when I feel so dark, empty, and vacant in my heart and soul but I got up this morning and put one foot in front of the other b/c we have kids to take care. I’ll do my best to take care of our 5 Bigs and The 4 Littles. I will teach out Littles “ya can’t fix stupid” and “if you don’t ask you don’t get “ Rick I know you are with Baby Kathy Eddie and Josh Boswell but right now this isn’t helpful to me. I need you here with me. I need you to watch Hannah’s recitals, Wyatt’s Boy Scout events, Adalyn’s activities, and JPs “firsts”. We almost made it to 40 yrs on our Anniversary honey- but I’ll press on and try to do you proud, I’ll do my best. You were my knight in shining armor, my lover, and my partner. I’ll always love you. I’ll hold down the fort as best I can,

Into paradise may the angels lead you. At your coming may the martyrs receive you, and bring you into the holy city Jerusalem.
A special intention for the repose of Rick's soul was said at Mass at St. Peter's-at-the-Light (Episcopal), Barnegat Light, NJ on Sunday, February 16 by The Rev'd Donald Turner. (Rick was the first cousin once removed of Fr. Turner.)
Candy and Don give thanks for a life lived faithfully in Christ Jesus, and pray for the comfort of Sandi, Nikki, Allen, Jamie, his mother and father, cousin Jacque and Paul (Dick) Schelm. In the days ahead find comfort in in the embrace of the Father who knows your pain. Find solace in precious memories. And tell the stories!
With love, Don and Candy.

Anyone that knew Rick could see that God and Family were first in his life. Rick was a very strong and sensitive person. He was loving and most kind to his family and friends.
I have many fond memories of visiting Port Charlotte and hanging out with Rick and his sisters and brothers when we were in our teens. We rode bikes, played football, went for swims and had many great family meals together.
Spending time with Rick, Sandi and the kids in Texas one summer gave us many happy memories as well. I admired him and loved him like a brother. He was very kind to me when I needed it most. For that I am humble and will cherish his friendship always.
Rest in Peace Rick Schelm.
Much Love
Your Indiana Cousin Kimmie

Rick was one of my first friends when my family moved to Port Charlotte from New Jersey in 1965. We traveled the scholastic journey until graduation from Charlotte High School in 1974. I saw Rick several months ago, and we exchanged hugs and updates on our families. Never in my heart would I dream that would be the last time. Please accept my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies. He will always be near, his spirit will live on, and he is looking down from Heaven and smiling at how much he was loved.
