Obituary of Michael Allen Nelson
Michael Allen Nelson, 61, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away of natural causes at home on Sunday, October 27, 2019. Michael was born on August 8, 1958 in Onawa, IA. He graduated high school with his wife Janet in 1977 and went on to work in maintenance for meat processing plants including Harkers, Tyson, WisPak, ConAgra, and most recently was a Maintenance Operations Manager of Food & Beverage Engineering for EcoLabs. Michael loved fishing, especially in Canada. He spent several years as a volunteer firefighter for the Orange City Fire Department. He also loved traveling, riding motorcycles, and reading in his spare time, especially fantasy novels.
He is survived by his children, Joshua Allen Nelson of Milwaukee, WI, Melanie Lee Waterbury and husband Ben of Iowa City, IA, and Melissa Joy Nelson of Milwaukee, WI, four grandchildren, John, Elizabeth, David, and Michael, his mother Marcy Joy Nelson of Lovell, WY, his brothers, Mark Leslie Nelson and wife Marlene of Spirit Lake, IA, Monte Jo Nelson of Anchorage, Alaska, and Morrey Lynn Nelson and husband Bubba of Austin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Allen Nelson, and his wife of 42 years, Janet Lee Nelson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10AM at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Rd, Punta Gorda, FL.
