Obituary of Edward Kelly

Edward John Kelly, 72, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away peacefully on the morning on Wednesday, August 14^thin Tidewell Hospice, Port Charlotte. The oldest child of John Kelly and Mary Corrigan of Carbondale PA, is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Dimetros Kelly, and his sisters Mary Panella and husband Michael, Elizabeth Scanlon and husband Michael (who precedesed him), Colleen Kelly, brothers Bernard and spouse Joan, John (Jack) and spouse Regina, Patrick and spouse Lesley, Robert, Martin and spouse Maureen and Kevin and spouse Maureen.  Ed also is also survived by his two godsons, Timothy Kelly and Kevin Kelly, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed worked for the Village of South Orange, NJ, for 25 years as a heavy equipment operator before moving to the Jersey Shore where he resided for 20 years before making Punta Gorda FL his permanent residence.  

Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper.  He enjoyed taking care of his houses, boats and uncountable cars and trucks.  Ed was a longtime member of the ELKS, Moose, American Legion and VFW.

Services will be held at the Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Spring Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda FL  33950, from 10:00 to 12:00 noon on Monday, August , 19, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ed’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or 

Volunteers of America, 1250 Taylor Road, Punta Gorda, FL 33950 which helps homeless veterans.
