Obituary of Mary I. Dyce

Mary Isobel Earle-Dyce was the 4th child of Stanford and Eunice Earle of Goodwill, St. James, Jamaica. She was born on June 30, 1923. Upon completion of her early education in Goodwill, she relocated to Kingston where she pursued and completed her early training in nursing and midwifery at the University College of the West Indies Hospital. She migrated to England in 1954 and joined the staff of the Hammersmith Hospital in London where she completed her training as a Registered Nurse. Later, she joined the staff of the Parson's Green Maternity Hospital in London. While in England, she met and married her husband Vernal, who predeceased her. The union produced two boys, Carlton and Nigel. During this period, Mary was extremely active in her church, the Fulham Baptist Church. Mary moved back to Jamaica for a brief period in 1964, and then relocated to New York in 1967, where she joined the staff of Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan, where she worked until her retirement in 1989. Upon retiring, Mary moved to Port Charlotte, Florida, where she spent her final years. Throughout her entire life, she had been a traveler. In addition to the traveling indicated earlier, she also visited other European countries, Israel, South America, Mexico, and other unlisted destinations. With her departure, she has left behind loving sons, Carlton and Nigel, grandchildren, Nigel, Jr., Ceymone, Dumaka and Benton; daughters-in-law Cindy and Denies; sisters, Agnes Wright and Dr. Sylvia Lawson, and brothers, Joseph Earle, Deryk Wallace and Dr. Jonathan Earle.
