David Sturgeon born July 12,1931 in Dromore,County Down, Northern Ireland to William John and Jane (McNabb) went home to be with his Lord May 4, 2019. David accepted the Lord Jesus into his life as a teenager and was given many opportunities to speak and share the Word of God. David immigrated to the US in 1966 with his wife Doris and daughter Ruth. He worked for the Ulster Weaving company in NYC for 13 years and lived in New Jersey where his second daughter Ann was born. The family moved to Florida in 1975 where David bought The Bicycle Center of Port Charlotte. He was an avid cyclist and was still cycling 12+ miles a day at age 85, often with his doggie Chenel in the basket. David was a private pilot, he was the youngest at that time in Northern Ireland to get his pilots license at age 19. He flew all over the British Isles working for his fathers linen business. He had many happy family trips flying across the United States, the Bahamas, and Mexico. He had a gifted ear for music and played many instruments, he especially loved gospel bluegrass. After his wife Doris passed away David remarried and lived in Louisiana for 10 years before his second wife Pat(Taylor) passed away. David returned to Charlotte County. He never met a stranger, always had such an interest in people's lives, and loved sharing his many adventures. He would often enjoy a meal at "Chick fil A" and would say "I go there for the fellowship!" He is preceded in death by his wife Doris (2000), brother John Sturgeon, sister Dorothy (Forbes). He leaves behind daughters Ruth (Dave) Perisho, Ann (Morris) Campbell both of Punta Gorda, Granddaughters; Rachael Perisho, Portland, Oregon, and Esther Perisho, Quito Ecuador. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to Reach Beyond Ministry (HCJB "The voice of the Andes" ) reachbeyond.org (This radio station in Quito Ecuador was the first christian missionary radio station in the world, founded in 1931. It was the station David listened to as a young man in Ireland on his shortwave radio. How amazing his granddaughter Esther now lives in Quito and is engaged to a man that his parents worked for that station!) Although the shortwave transmission ended in 2009, their delivery today is AM/FM and the internet. "You will show me the path of life: in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures for evermore." Psalm 16:11
