Obituary of Martha M. Spiriti

SPIRITI Martha, age 85, of Punta Gorda, Fla., beloved widow of previously deceased husband Joseph A. Spiriti Sr., entered into rest on February 17, 2019, at The Gardens At Parkwood, Coral Springs, Florida. Martha was born on July 23, 1933, in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She is predeceased by her loving parents, Raffaele and Claudia Marino; and her brothers, John Marino and Victor J. Marino. Martha will be sadly missed by her son, Joseph A. Spiriti Jr., and former wife, Denese Spiriti of Weston, Florida, daughter, Nina (Spiriti) Gray and husband, Jeff (AJ) of Warren, Ohio. Her memory will be cherished by her two grandsons, Antonio and Dante, and her granddaughter, Bianca. She is also survived by her sister, Valerie (Marino) Mancuso (wife of Fred Mancuso) of Bethel, Connecticut; along with several nieces and nephews. Martha was originally an office worker in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She later relocated and raised her family in Newtown, Connecticut, where her and her husband became entrepreneurs and restauranteurs for many years. Martha semi-retired to Punta Gorda, Florida where she become a well-known fixture at the Publix Bakery. Later in life she relocated to Weston, Florida to spend her remaining days with her family. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Punta Gorda, Fla., as well as St. Bonaventure Church in Davie, Florida. All friends and relatives are welcomed to attend the memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W. Charlotte Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950.
