Obituary of Robert E. Garbart

Robert Earl Garbart, 82 of Venice. September 11, 1929 to May 14, 2012 Mr. Garbart was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Growing up he loved going to his Grandfathers farm. He also loved sports and was very involved in boxing and playing football, basketball and baseball. He graduated high school and attended Clarion University where he received his teaching degree. He also met his predeceased wife and college sweetheart Jean Louise Gray at Clarion University. They went on to have 3 children before moving to Florida where their fourth child was born. Mr. Garbart obtained a teaching job at Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda where he taught History, Americanism versus Communism, and Drivers Education. He also obtained his Master Degree and went on to become a Guidance Counselor at Charlotte High School. Mr.Garbart loved teaching and he loved his students. Mr. Garbart also worked at Edison Community College as a Guidance Counselor. Upon leaving Edison Community College he worked in the real estate market. Mr. Garbart retired in Venice where he loved to play tennis. Mr. Garbart leaves behind his beloved companion of 30 years Frances Scovitch. His children and their spouses Diane and Mike Duncan of Knightdale, Hadley Garbart and Deborah Kohl of Baltimore, David amd Laura Sticklin of Tampa, and Patrick Garbart and Christine Gonzalez of Dallas. He leaves behind his grandchildren Trevor and Kelsey Duncan, Drew Duncan, Amanda, Benjamin and Katie Garbart, Brooke Barbour, Shannon, Ambor and Michael Sticklin, and Erica Rodriguez. Mr.Garbart also leaves behind his extended family, Ted Scovitch, Kim Roberts, Kevin Mosser, Lisa Mosser, and Patty Blevins, and their children Jessie and Ben Blevins, Michael, Mark and Melissa Mosser, Dylan Mosser and Lindsay Hess.
