Obituary of Cecil E. Hughes

Cecil E. Hughes, 74, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. Mr. Hughes was born June 12, 1937 in Berry, Kentucky to Andrew Jackson and Oma (nee Price) Hughes and moved to this area 40 years ago from Illinois. Mr. Hughes was the former Chaplain for the American Legion Post #110 in Port Charlotte. He was self-employed as a roofing and carpentry contractor and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Patricia E. (nee Marner) Hughes of Port Charlotte; son, Cecil O. (Jenny) Hughes Jr. of Brandon, FL; daughters, Margaret and Jennifer; step-son, Wayne (Kim) Agnew of Port Charlotte; step-daughters, Lynn P. McCurry of Port Charlotte and Karen (Edgar) Mulan of Deltona, FL; sister, Louise Barker of Berry, KY; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Cecil's life will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 2:00PM at the American Legion Post #110, 3152 Harbor Blvd. in Port Charlotte.
