Obituary of Margaret E. Howard

Margaret E. (Peg) Howard, of Falmouth, Massachusetts and Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on April 14, 2012, surrounded by her family at age 96. She was born and raised in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Edwin and Ada (Pickles) Eastwood, on March 11, 1916. She moved to Easton, MA and graduated from Oliver Ames High School. She was married to the late Arnold A. Howard for 54 years. She is survived by her children, Sally (Aguilar) Howard of Falmouth, MA; Susan H. Curra of Knox, Maine; and Jon A. Howard of Bangor, Maine. She had 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandson. She was active in the Martha Mother's Club of Brockton, MA, and the Knitting Club of North Easton, MA where she still had many loyal friends. She was a volunteer at the Falmouth Service Center for 25 yearsand knitted over 100 baby caps each year for the Falmouth Hospital for several years. She also was a host for the elite runners of Falmouth Road Race for many years. In Florida she donated her time to the red Cross and Big Brothers & Big Sisters. She had resided in Falmouth for nearly 50 years. She was an avid knitter, and especially enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings for all the children she knew and some she didn't know. She touched the lives of many children in Falmouth babysitting for the League of Women Voters as well as many local families. She is a communicant of St. Barnabas Church in Falmouth and St. James Church in Port Charlotte, Fl. Memorial donations in Peg's name may be sent to the Falmouth Service Center, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte, FL A memorial service will be held in Falmouth at a later date.
