Obituary of Margaret K. Wortelboer

Margaret Kathryn (Osterman-Knollinger) Wortelboer, 91, of Port Charlotte, Fl, peacefully went home to our Lord and Savior, on December 30, 2011, at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. She was born in Oceana County, MI, graduated from Fremont High School in Fremont, MI. As her children grew to adulthood, she managed Mari-lan Dairy in Muskegon, MI, at age of 50, she returned to college to finish her nursing studies. She retired from Muskegon General Hospital as a cardiac LPN and moved to Port Charlotte with her husband Kenneth. Margaret is survived by a daughter Karen Verveer (Henry) of Port Charlotte, son William Knollinger (Clara) of Muskegon, MI, four grandchildren, Susan (Verveer) Reddy (Jeff), Becky (Verveer) Ramos (Angel), Renee (Kollinger) Rankin, Kevin Knollinger (Tracy), eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and sisters-in-law, seven sisters, and brothers-in-law, daughter Carol Ann, hisband William Knollinger, husband Kenneth, and son-in-law Jack Verveer, and beloved companion Joseph Brooks, Jr. Margaret enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and baking. She will be remembered for her gentle, loving and caring ways. As a longtime dedicated member of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Port Charlotte, she was instrumental in the infancy of the Ministry to the Sick at the Assisted Living Facilities, the Homebound Ministry and started the Prayer Blanket Ministry, at the suggestion of Father Arnold Zebrowski. She shared honors and received volunteer recognition of the year 2010 for all her efforts in serving others. She will be missed, but her legancy will continue through family and friends who learned by her example that the gifts of caring and sharing your love to all is the greatest gift you can give or receive. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2012, from 12-1 PM, at the Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 9400 Indian Springs Road, Punta Gorda. A memorial mass, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 10 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic church in Port Charlotte.
