Obituary of Martin L. Travis

Martin Travis, 90, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed on to be with the Lord on December 1, 2009, his wife Annette's birthday. He passed while at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte. Martin was born on September 3, 1919 in Lodi, Ohio to Martin L. Travis, Sr. and Bertha Norris. He lived there with his wife, Annetta, until 1983 when they moved to Port Charlotte to join their children living there. He was employed as an Accountant until he retired. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was raised as a Protestant and was a born again Christian. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #0523 in Lodi, Ohio. He resided the last four months at Royal Palm Retirement Center. He loved playing bingo and did so even after moving to Royal Palm Retirement Center. Martin is preceded in death by his wife, Annetta Laura Travis, who passed away August 15, 2001. He is survived by; his remaining two sisters, Florence Urban of Niles, Ohio and Betty Lou (John) Heath of Toledo, Ohio, his son, Kenneth Martin (Glenda) Travis of Port Charlotte, his daughter, Bonnie Lee Roach of Port Charlotte, his four grandchildren, Michele Moyers, Suzanne Horner, Kenneth Martin Travis, Jr., and Elizabeth (Matt) Snook, his five great-grandchildren, Derek Roach, Mark Lavallee, Joshua Horner, Caitlin Horner and Kimberlynn Snook. Memorial Services will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church in North Port, Florida, Sunday, December 6th, 2009 at 3:00PM. Family and friends are welcome back at his home at 1508 Hayworth Road in Port Charlotte after the services for a time of rejoicing his return to his wife and the Lord and for remembrances of his full and joyful life.
