Obituary of Patrick Joseph Coccoma

Patrick Joseph Coccoma, 88, of Punta Gorda, Florida passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Tidewell Hospice in Port Charlotte. Mr. Coccoma was born March 29, 1923 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Anthony and Josephine (nee Polito) Coccoma and moved to Pembroke Pines in 1978 before moving to the Charlotte County area in 1993. He was a WWII veteran in the Navy, served with US Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division as a medic in the South Pacific/Chinese Theaters, and was a retired registered nurse having worked in New York and Florida state hospitals. Mr. Coccoma was a Florida resident since 1978 and a summer resident of Cooperstown, NY. He was also an avid golfer and a member of the Deep Creek Elks Club #2763. Mr. Coccoma served as a Eucharistic Minister at San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte where he was also a member. Mr. Coccoma is survived by his wife, Sadie (Sally) D. Coccoma of Punta Gorda; sons, Honorable Michael (Ellen) Coccoma of Cooperstown, NY and Joseph (Judy) Coccoma of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Dr. Patricia (Richard) Coccoma Pambrum of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Mark Firman of Cape Coral, FL, Nick, Caitrin and Peter Coccoma, all of Cooperstown, NY, and Angela, Anthony, and Gianni Coccoma, all of Wilmington, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Angelo Coccoma. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11:00AM on Monday, August 8, 2011 at San Antonio Catholic Church, 24445 Rampart Boulevard in Port Charlotte.
