Obituary of Cora Louise Whitacre

Cora Louise (nee Kress) Whitacre, 89, of Port Charlotte, Florida formerly of West Milton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Englewood Hospice House. Louise worked as a secretary until her retirement and moved to Florida in 1978. She spent many hours volunteering at the Charlotte High School Library and for Dance Showcase. She was born at home on November 30, 1921 near Potsdam, Ohio to Webster and Maggie (Bridenbaugh) Kress. Mrs. Whitacre is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Whitacre Moore of Dayton, OH; her two sons, Roger (Carolyn) Whitacre and Randy (Terri) Whitacre, both of Port Charlotte; two grandsons, Gregory (Amy) Whitacre and Gavin (Jennifer) Whitacre; and three great-grandchildren, MacKenna Lee, Jadelynn Lou, and Trevor Fair, all of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fair W. Whitacre; three brothers, Raymond, Burlen, and Glen; and two sisters, Hazel and Opal. Family will receive friends from 12-1:00PM on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Paul Schelm Funeral Home, 12687 SW Kings Highway in Lake Suzy. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM at the funeral home with burial at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda to follow.
