Obituary of Gwendolyn Brooks

Gwendolyn Brooks, 91, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Monday, March 21, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. Brooks was born December 7, 1919 in Sucess, Jamaica, West Indies to John and Isadora (nee Clarke) Chambers and moved to this area 8 years ago from New York City, New York. She worked as a home health aide and was a member of First Baptist Church in Port Charlotte. Mrs. Brooks is survived by her daughters, Joan Brooks of Port Charlotte, FL and Judith (Daniel) Brooks Hastings of Atlanta, GA; sister, Kathleen Wilson of Northampton, England; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:00AM on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at First Baptist Church, 20035 Quesada Avenue in Port Charlotte. Funeral Services will be at 10:00AM at the church.
