Obituary of Marie Sumpter Desamours

OBITUARY INFORMATION MARIE DENISE SUMPTER DESAMOURS Marie Denise Sumpter (Desamours), 62, was granted her angel wings on December 6, 2010. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Marie had touched in so many ways. Marie was born June 9, 1948 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. After Marie completed her schooling, she got married and had three boys. Marie and her husband wanted to have a better life for their children and decided to move to Brooklyn, New York in 1981. After getting adjusted to this new fast pace life, Marie found out that she would have a new addition to her family. In 1986, Marie had a baby girl, who she named after her mother who had passed away a couple of years prior. Marie and her family lived in New York for ten years before her and her husband decided to make another big move to Port Charlotte, Florida where she resided for the next 19 years. Marie was a certified nurse's assistant who worked to provide exceptional and extremely humane care for her patients. She treated co-workers and patients alike as if they were her family. She worked in both major hospitals in Port Charlotte and countless nursing homes in the area. She always had a strong work family who she cared for very much especially at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans' Home of Port Charlotte where she worked since it first opened in 2004. Marie was a devoted member of Redeemer Baptist Church of Port Charlotte for 17 years where she provided countless support and service. Her faith was her strength. As a continuing theme of Marie's life, she worked incredibly hard to provide whatever her family needed. Her work ethic was super human as well as her dedication to service for her fellow man. Marie was the kind of woman that helped others from the heart, never expecting to receive anything in return. She helped others because it was the right thing to do. She especially cared about struggling mothers and their children. She also provided countless support to her extended family in her native Haiti. She lived for family, friends, and those that needed help and support. She was an ANGEL ON EARTH. Marie is survived by her husband, Rodrigue Desamours; her four children, Jean-Marc Rodrigue Desamours, Reginald Desamours, Michael Desamours, and Julia Desamours; grandchildren, Kiara Desamours, Amani Desamours, Quinton Desamours, and Shylah Desamours; sister, Celicia Paul; brothers, Elmitor Pierre-Louis and Leon Thomas; nieces, Mary Ange Paul Louis, Linda Thomas, Roseline Pierre-Louis, Flora Thomas, Sheila Pierre-Louis, Joanne Pierre Louis; nephews, Yvens Paul, Ernest Pierre-Louis, Rico Pierre-Louis, Elwinto Pierre-Louis, and other extended cousins that she loved very much.
